Food . . . hmm, we have been forewarned by previous visitors to this country about the food , and so, we were well armed with our own sauces, packet noodles , chocolates, cookies etc etc...
And so, our first meal in Thimphu Restaurant (buffet style, in fact for all our meals thru out the whole trip ) was pleasantly delighted, especially the
"chilli cheese" which we have heard so much .
And in fact, by the middle of the trip, this chilli cheese became our favorite ! and by then our Tony swore never ever to see another carrot and cauliflower again !!
And thereafter, the Malaysian sambal became a very precious item on our dinner table. (which didnt last long too long)

And anonymously, we vote Metta Resort & Spa to offer the "best" meals for us and that is because the owner is a Malaysian lady herself and she homemade "chicken rendang, Sambal ikan bilis and even nasi lemak " for our meals.

LOOK AT TONY !!!... he says it all !!
and of course, there's the
"LIFE-SAVERS"
And the hotels we stayed in for the 6 nights were overall very comfortable and clean and the service is very very prompt and friendly.
In Thimphu, we stayed 2 nights in Dorbuling Hotel, Punakha we stayed a night in Hotel Lobesa and last 3 nights in Paro in Metta Resort & Spa.
Norbuling Hotel, Thimphu .

Norbuling Hotel , Thimphu |
Norbuling Hotel is not too bad, I would rate it a 3-star. Its clean, comfortable and conveniently located in Thimphu town and just across the road is the Archery field. Walk 10 mins down is the night market street. Location is ideal. However, my room initially has a water heating problem which was finally resolved the same night.

Spectacular view of the terraced rice fields from our Hotel Lobesa . . . unfortunately we only stayed here 1 night. I would rate it a 4-star , spacious room, modern and tastefully designed ,clean, comfortable, friendly staff, very anxious and efficient service and the additional plus point is its breathtaking view of the golden rice fields as the sun rises over the mountains in the morning.
and the last 3 nights we stayed in
Metta Resort & Spa, Paro.
which I rate it as a 3-4 star. Spacious bedroom, comfortable, very friendly and nice staff and good food! As for the room, they could brighten up the room a bit, its quite dark and the heater doesnt work but I was too tired to call for technical assistance.
The consolation is the FOOD. And i must say the lady owner does make her guests feel at home with not only her cooking skills, but her
karaoke !!
